Welcome to the National Domestic Workers Alliance (“NDWA”). Your privacy is important to us and we strive to be transparent in our collection and utilization of your information. This Privacy Policy explains how NDWA collects, uses, and discloses your information with respect to your use of our website located at https://domesticworkers.org, including, without limitation, the subdomains https://membership.domesticworkers.org, https://employers.domesticworkers.org, and https://portal.domesticworkers.org; our social media platforms; our mobile applications and texts messaging services; and our online and offline Donor platforms (collectively, the “Services”). “Donors” means supporters who make donations by any means, including online (such as through online fundraising platforms or our websites) and offline (such as at events or by submitting paper form pledges). Before you use or submit any information in connection with the Services, carefully review this Privacy Policy. By being a “user” and using the Services, you agree to our collection, use, disclosure and transfer of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. The terms “you” or “user” refer to all individuals and entities accessing the Services for any reason. The terms “us” or “we” refer to NDWA. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.
The information we collect about you depends on the Services you use, how you use them and the information that you provide to us. We collect information in three main ways: (1) information you provide directly to us; (2) information we collect automatically through technology when you use the Services; and (3) information we collect from other sources.
When you use any of our Services, you may provide certain information directly to us. For example, you provide information when you subscribe to our emails, submit any of our online forms, make a donation, sign up for SMS/text messages, when you input content using our mobile application or via offline activities. The information we collect directly from you includes: (i) contact and account information (such as name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, mobile phone number, and demographic information); (ii) financial and transaction information (such as billing address and payment or bank account information if a donation or purchase is made through our Services, but please be aware that this information is handled by our trusted third-party payment processors and whose terms will therefore apply to how they collect and process your payment information); (iii) and other information that you provide to us, such as all content that you choose to input into the Services, the content of your communications with us, and contacts through social media channels.
We may also collect certain information automatically as you navigate our Services or interact with our communications. The types of information we may collect include your IP address, browser type, browser language, operating system, state or country from which you accessed the Services, software and hardware attributes (including device IDs), referring and exit pages and URLs, platform type, the number of clicks, files you download, pages viewed, the amount of time spent on particular pages, the date and time you used the Services, error logs and other similar information. From your IP address, we may be able to infer your general location (e.g., city and state or postal code). This information allows us to understand how our users are navigating and using our Services, and how we can improve your experience based on the information we collect.
To collect the above information, we may use third-party analytics providers and technologies, such as web server logs, cookies and tracking pixels, to help us collect the data described above. We use the term “cookie” in the broad sense to include all similar techniques and technologies. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer or device when you visit a website that stores certain information about your website usage. For example, cookies enable us to recognize your computer; store your preferences and settings; enhance your user experience by delivering content specific to your interests; perform searches and analytics; and assist with security administrative functions.
We use cookies that are created by us, and we may also allow some third party companies to serve cookies as well. Some cookies are necessary to provide you with the Services and cannot be turned off. Other kinds of cookies allow you to take advantage of some of the enhanced features made available through our Services, such as remembering your preferences. If you disable cookies, some functionality of the Services may be impaired. We may also use analytics cookies, which help us (or our third party analytics providers) to collect statistics about use of the Services. We use the information collected through analytics cookies to improve the features and functionality of our Services.
Temporary cookies will be stored on your computer or device only during a particular browsing session. In contrast, permanent cookies survive after your browser is closed and may remain for between 24 hours and three years.
You can change your settings to notify you when a cookie is being set or updated, or to block cookies altogether. Please consult the “Help” section of your browser for more information (e.g., Internet Explorer; Microsoft Edge; Google Chrome; Mozilla Firefox; or Apple Safari). Cookies do not, under any circumstances, read the data from your computer, and you can delete them at any time.
We may also collect information about you from other sources, such as social media networks (for example, when you interact with us by liking us on Facebook or Instagram or following us on Twitter), other publicly available sources and databases, data aggregators, marketing companies, and other parties to help us supplement our records.
